NEIGHBOURHOOD DESCRIPTION:
Pop Art allows you to live in a residential area identified as one of the most versatile, lively and well-connected in Milan: Lambrate, and not far from the Ortica district.
A stone's throw from Città Studi and well connected to the centre thanks to the metro and tram, there are two neighbourhoods full of life, events and initiatives. On one side is Lambrate, the former working-class neighbourhood par excellence where the Innocenti factory was located and the Lambretta was produced, and on the other is Ortica, the city's first museum district, where history is painted on the walls. Lambrate is a post-industrial area, which began as a working-class neighbourhood and has become a hub for creativity in the last ten years or so. There are studios, art galleries and many events in converted factories and warehouses. The best thing is the mix between all this lively atmosphere and the feeling of being in a secluded suburb (although not far from the centre) where there is a good neighbourhood.
These are neighbourhoods chosen by young people and families: without losing the air of old working-class Milan between gasometers and subways, there is a great deal of ferment between Lambrate and Ortica. At Lambrate, thanks to the art district of the lofts behind the station that comes alive during Design Week, and at Ortica thanks to the murals that build a path of memory by the street artist collective Orticanoodles.
Lambrate and Ortica are divided by the railway but were originally the same municipality, which became part of the municipality of Milan in 1923.
Città Studi has a different layout to the rest of the city: spacious streets intersecting at right angles and tree-lined boulevards between neoclassical and neo-Gothic buildings. Nestled between Porta Venezia and Lambrate, it looks more like Turin than Milan, even though it is a very Milanese neighbourhood. Built by the Fascist regime in the late 1920s and early 1930s around the new headquarters of the Milan Polytechnic in Piazza Leonardo Da Vinci, Città Studi is home to all the science faculties of the Statale (Physics and Biology, for example), as well as the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of the Milan Polytechnic.

GETTING AROUND THE AREA:
From Casa Pop Art you can get around by public transport throughout Milan: the location allows ample freedom to easily reach the centre with the MM1 underground at the Pasteur stop in 10 minutes on foot to go to Piazza Duomo in 6 stops, or again in ten minutes on foot to reach the MM2 Lambrate stop, which takes you to Stazione Centrale in 4 stops. To reach the Istituto dei Tumori it takes 5 minutes by car or 20 minutes by public transport.
